Bad translations hurt the eye and the ear like an ugly dog barking into the night

I am trilingual: French, English, German. French and German are my native languages. English has been my working language for years. I’ve been a translator, proofreader and subtitler for 15 years.

I have a Master’s degree in German Language and Literature, a Master’s + 2 degree in French Language and Literature & Intercultural Communication and a PhD in Comparative Literature.

I am a certified translator : German-French.

Translation or subtitling are much more than just transferring words, sentences from one language to the other. They mean adapting to a new readership, a new customer, a new culture. In a region like mine, Lorraine, on the German border, we understand these things, since day after day we live them. My studies in Intercultural Communication at a Franco-German University (Saarbrücken) have proven very useful to understand the importance of creation in translation.
